U.W.O. Trying to Turn Manure into Energy

University of Waterloo scientists are looking at farm manure as a possible source of renewable energy to heat homes.  The researchers are developing technology to produce natural gas from manure, which can be added to the current system in supplying energy.  The move would also eliminate the problem of harmful gases being released by decomposing manure that’s spread on farm fields as fertilizer.  Not only would it be used by industries and in homes, researchers say the renewable natural gas could replace diesel fuel for trucks, which is the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions.
