Settlement reached in Goodlife Fitness unpaid wages case

A well known Canadian gym, with a location in Stratford, could soon be paying out over $7.5 million to former and current employees.

It comes after an class-action lawsuit filed by a Toronto law firm, accusing Goodlife Fitness of not paying employees properly for certain types of work, was settled.

The lawsuit said Goodlife Fitness didn’t pay employees for things like preparing classes and seeking out new clients at it’s over 160 locations in Ontario.

Thousands of former and current employees could be impacted by the settlement, which still has to be approved in court, because it was expanded to cover the entire country last year.

Goodlife Fitness made changes after the lawsuit including paying trainers for time spent seeking out new clients.
