Ontario’s police watchdog says one man is dead after an incident at an intersection near Innerkip.
The SIU says a 911 call came in around 1:00 a.m. Monday about a man in distress and police, including a tactical team, went to the scene at the intersection of Oxford Road 22 and Oxford Road 29 where they discovered a vehicle.
According to the SIU, officers found a man inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The 54-year-old man’s name has not been released and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday.
The SIU is called in to investigate incidents involving police that result in civilian deaths, serious injuries or allegations of sexual assault.
