Stratford’s planned Grand Trunk Community Hub receives $10 million from province

Stratford’s community hub is getting a financial boost from Ontario.

The City of Stratford sent out a press release Monday afternoon revealing that the province announced earlier in the day that it will be investing $10 million from its 2018 budget toward the planned Grand Trunk Community Hub.

According to the city, Ontario is supporting the creation of the new multi-purpose hub at the former Cooper site with a mix of uses that could include an enhanced YMCA facility, a new active seniors’ facility, a new University of Waterloo student centre, expanded child care facilities and new housing.

Stratford Chief Administrative Officer Rob Horne says in the release that he’s looking forward to continued consultation with the public as they move forward on the project.
