Emergency Services Exercise taking place in St.Marys

St.Marys wants to be ready should a major emergency ever happen.

To that end, the town is carrying out an emergency services exercise Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Last year the town held an exercise which measured the response to a collision involving a school bus and an oil tanker truck and this year they will be testing their ability to manage a major evacuation of residents to the Pyramid Recreation Centre.

A number of agencies will be involved in the exercise including the St.Marys Fire Department, Perth Paramedic Services, Ontario Provincial Police, and the City of Stratford.

There will be no road closures or service disruption involved with the exercise but people in the area may notice an increased number of police and other emergency services during the event.

If you’re interested in watching it organizers say you can do so from the windows across from the canteen but you’re asked not to enter the Rock Rink.
