Single people in our area are being warned to keep a close watch out for so-called online romance scams.
Waterloo Regional Police say they have received reports of several similar scams in the past few months.
They say that in one case, a local woman reported losing one million Canadian dollars over four years.
And in another, a local man was reportedly scammed out of 500-thousand U-S dollars over three months.
Police say in both cases, the individuals believed they were in a relationship but had never met the person they were communicating with online.
