Today will be Joe Fontana’s last official day on the job.
The London Mayor will hold a press conference this morning and step down from his position.
Fontana was convicted last week of fraud, uttering forged documents, and breach of trust during his time as a federal Liberal MP.
Councillor Joe Swan will step in as acting mayor then London City Council will choose an interim mayor until this fall’s municipal vote.
If Fontana is sentenced to jail time, he won’t be able to run for re-election.
