OPP to launch Distracted Driving blitz over March Break

The OPP is launching another distracted driving blitz just in time for March Break.

What may catch drivers caught using their cell phones behind the wheel is the new fines that went up the first of this year.  Now if you are caught using a cell phone the fine is $1,000, three demerit points and a three-day licence suspension.

Last year 55 people and more than 9,115 crashes were linked to distracted driving on OPP-patrolled roads.
