Stratford Police say there’s been another close call in the area after a possible drug overdose.
Police, along with Perth County Paramedics and the Stratford Fire Department, say they were called to a home in the north end of the city around 1 o’clock Tuesday morning in response to a 65-year-old man who had passed out and wasn’t showing and vital signs.
Two doses of Narcan, a temporary opioid reversing drug, were administered to the male by another person in the home and the man was conscious and alert at the time that emergency personnel arrived.
Police say the man was transported to the Stratford General Hospital as the effects of the Narcan only last a short period of time.
They say the drug used by the man is currently unknown but, due to the effectiveness of the Narcan administered, it’s suspected to be an opioid class drug.
Stratford Police are also crediting Narcan with saving a 60-year-old man’s life in Perth South on Saturday after another suspected overdose.
