Police remind ATV operators to be safe

The OPP is reminding you that All Terrain Vehicles are not toys.

A lot of people will be on ATVs this Canada Day weekend.

Police remind you they handle differently from other vehicles such as motorcycles and cars.

Proper instruction and practice are important before you get on them.

They remind you to wear a helmet, never consume alcohol or have passengers on the ATV with you and make sure you have all the proper documents on you.

Also, when riding on private property, you must have the land owner’s permission.

Riding on private property without permission can lead to a trespassing charge.
