The MPP for Perth-Wellington says a plan has been put forward that will bring real relief and real choice to people in our area when it comes to housing.
Randy Pettapiece says the More Homes, More Choice: Ontario’s Housing Supply Action Plan would tackle the province’s housing crisis with housing and building partners being encouraged to build more housing that meets the needs of people in areas like Perth County.
He adds that, if passed, the plan will encourage industry to address challenges like affordability, size of rental units and housing type.
Pettapiece says there is a “severe shortage of affordable housing across Perth-Wellington” and the legislation would make it easier to build rental housing.
The new measures in the legislation, according to the Ford government, would “streamline the overly complicated approvals process” for housing “to remove unnecessary duplication and red tape” while protecting health and safety.
