Stratford man arrested after Canada-wide arrest warrant issued

A 43-year-old Stratford man has been arrested after a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for him.

Stratford Police say the warrant was issued on Wednesday by police in the District of Longueuil which is in Quebec.

They say Kahnawake-Mohawk Peacekeepers issued the warrant in connection to an arson that happened on April 30th with the man being charged with several offences including Intentionally Causing Damage by Fire.

Police say they determined that the man was at his home in Stratford when the warrant was issued and officers from Quebec came to Stratford on Thursday and the man was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at his home.

Cory Bernier was taken into custody and flown back to Quebec where he had a court appearance scheduled for Friday.
