Police: West Perth resident scammed out of $3,000

You’re being reminded to stay vigilant following a scam that robbed a West Perth resident of $3-thousand.

Perth County OPP says they were contacted on May 8th, after the victim received phone calls from a telephone company and a bank, advising that the victim’s bank card had been compromised.

They say the victim verified banking information over the phone, which allowed the scammers access to accounts, where the money was removed.

Police say you should never provide any personal information or banking information over the phone, even if the caller sounds legitimate.

If you are in doubt, hang up, and contact your bank institution to verify.
