Flat fee for patios in the city, some fees waived for businesses not able to take part last year

Patio season is coming soon in Stratford and council has decided a flat fee is the way to go.

The motion was approved Monday for a “one size fits all” fee for businesses looking to open up a patio in the city for the summer.  On top of that, businesses that weren’t able to participate in the 2020 government-funded boardwalk program will have their parking spot fees waived this year.  That amendment was put forward by Councillor Danielle Ingram.

Businesses will pay $196.00 dollars a month in fees to cover the parking spots the patios will take up and $800.00 for setup and tear down fees for boardwalk patios. Patios built over parallel parking spaces will pay a fee of $186.00 a month.  Businesses wishing to use pop-up patios over angled parking will have to pay $203.00 a month.

Applications for patios opened on Monday.  Patio season runs from May 1st to October 31st.
