Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says the 2021 federal budget has some good stuff and some bad stuff.
Nater points to the $500 million Tourism Relief Fund, announced as part of Monday’s $101.4 billion budget, as being one of the good things that supports the hospitality and tourism sector which is so important to our area.
However, he says he has some challenges when it comes to a lack of funding for things like rural infrastructure and agriculture and he says it remains to be seen what’s willing to be accepted in terms of amendments his Conservative party will ask for.
Nater says he’s hoping those involved can come together in agreement.
“I don’t think anyone, anywhere in the country, wants to go into an election right now given the depths of the third wave so I think there is room for compromise.”
Nater says he’s glad to see that pandemic business and health supports are being extended as the country deals with the third wave of COVID-19.
