City of Stratford, Stratford Police and HPPH issue joint statement on public gatherings

Stratford Police say they’re continuing to take an education-first approach but they will use enforcement to ensure public safety.

The comment comes as the City of Stratford, Stratford Police, and Huron Perth Public Health have issued a joint statement on public gatherings.

The three are pointing to the additional restrictions announced last Friday which are aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19, including strengthened measures related to events and gatherings.

The measures include residents, other than those who live alone, not being allowed to gather outside with anyone they don’t live with, and limiting your close contact to those with who you live.

They are encouraging everyone to continue to be diligent in following the emergency order, as well as the guidance of public health officials.

The statement is in response to a planned public gathering this weekend.  The statement says city and police officials have reached out to the organizers to “underscore the importance of the Stay-at-Home-order and its restrictions.”
