UPDATE: Police say they received lots of evidence from residents on April protest

Police wanted to make sure they had their investigation complete before laying charges for April’s lockdown protest.

Stratford Police Inspector Mark Taylor led the investigation into the April No More Lockdowns rally where 14 people were charged.

Most of the people charged were either organizers or speakers and one other person who was being aggressive at times.

Taylor says the force received a lot of information before it happened from other police services in the province who had similar protests take place in their regions.

He adds they also reviewed footage and there was also a lot of evidence handed in.

“We we’re given a ton of evidence after the fact from residents of the area who had information and video of the rally.”

Everyone charged will be in court on June 22nd.
