Nater pushes for funding and resources to search all former residential schools

Perth Wellington MP John Nater says the discovery of 215 children’s bodies at a former residential school in B.C. is as tragic as it is shameful.

Nater says every Canadian needs to remember the situation as we take more concrete action towards reconciliation.

The Conservative party member says the federal government needs to ensure there is a plan in place that responds to the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission including putting the funding and resources in place to search all former residential schools in Canada.

Nater says we all need to do our part.

“A lot of times we don’t reflect on the negatives in our history as much as we need to and the residential schools were one of the parts that we haven’t paid as much attention to as we should have and we should going forward.”

The Liberal government has issued a 30-page “federal pathway” report focusing on actions to be taken and next steps.
