Restarting the Community Hub Project on the agenda for Stratford City Council

The future of the Cooper Block in Stratford could soon be clearer.

City council will be voting on restarting their Community Hub Project for the area at their virtual meeting Monday afternoon.

Officials say redevelopment planning and implementation slowed in 2020 and this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic but, now that the province is reopening, planning for the new hub within the historic steam locomotive maintenance building at the site can restart as part of the Grand Trunk Community Hub Master Plan.

The first phase of the work would be done this year and early next year would include completing the removal of the structure’s roof.

Council will also vote on hiring a Fundraising Campaign Manager for the project.

The meeting starts at 3 p.m.
