Kitchener resident charged in fatal July collision near Exeter

A 35-year-old Kitchener resident has now been charged in a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Shakespeare man.

First responders were called out to a collision involving a motorcycle on Thames Road East, east of Exeter, on July 3rd.

The motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital by an air ambulance with life-threatening injuries and they died in the hospital on July 24th from injuries suffered in the crash.

Huron County OPP say they’ve determined the driver of a compact vehicle was travelling westbound on Thames Road East when they attempted to pass a pickup truck.

During the pass, the vehicle collided with the pickup truck, lost control and veered into the oncoming lane where it collided with the motorcycle.

The driver has been charged with Careless Driving Cause Death and they are scheduled to appear in court in Goderich on October 5th.
