Nater says he wants to see more support for tourism sector

Federal Conservative candidate John Nater says he doesn’t feel an election was necessary at this time.

Nater, who’s seeking reelection in Perth-Wellington, says there was no pressing issue from the legislative side of things that was holding up the government from carrying on through at least the end of the pandemic.

However, he says now that we are in an election it’s his party’s job to present Canadians with their vision for the country and Nater says, locally, that includes boosting the economic recovery from the pandemic, especially in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Nater says his party will support those who need it most.

“Bringing in programs to get people back to work, to get businesses functioning once again at a high level and I was very pleased to see when we released our platform specific commitments to those in the restaurant sector and those in the tourism sector.”

Nater was first elected to represent the Perth-Wellington riding in 2015 and he is seeking his third term.

Also running in the September 20th election are Liberal candidate Brendan Knight, NDP candidate Kevin Kruchkywich and People’s Party of Canada candidate Wayne Baker.

We will be profiling all of the declared candidates this week.
