The candidate for the People’s Party of Canada in Perth-Wellington says the country is a far worse place than it used to be.
Wayne Baker is a small business person from Arthur and he says Canada is on a really bad trajectory.
He says an example of that is people being shunned for trying to speak out against their loss of rights and freedoms and he points to churches being closed during the pandemic as evidence.
When asked about what local issues he feels need to be addressed Baker says he’s running for a federal position and needs to take a macro view as opposed to a micro view.
“The major issue I’m finding in this riding, and it’s across southwestern Ontario and I’m sure it’s across Canada, is the blatant stomping on our rights and our freedoms.”
Also running in the September 20th election are Conservative candidate John Nater, NDP candidate Kevin Kruchkywich and Liberal candidate Brendan Knight.
We will be profiling all of the declared candidates this week.
