Another candidate is entering the race to be the provincial PC candidate for Perth-Wellington.
Don Van Galen, a municipal councilor for eighteen years in St.Marys, says he’s seeking the nomination to run for the party after Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece announced last month he won’t be running again.
Van Galen has been a financial advisor for 17 years and says listening to the goals and concerns of clients across the riding has given him the skills and experience that he wants to use to represent the area.
He says he took the time to ask himself if the MPP role was one that he really wanted.
“The answer was yes so after a little bit of work digging out to see what it would involve I thought to myself yeah, this is an opportunity I’d like to pursue.”
Matthew Rae announced in November that he is also seeking the PC nomination for the riding.
The Ontario election is scheduled for June 2nd, 2022.
