Officials at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in St.Marys say they are following the Major League Baseball lockout with interest.
Team owners locked out the players at 12:01 a.m. Thursday following the expiration of the sport’s five-year collective bargaining agreement making it the first time in 26 years that there has been a work stoppage in the MLB.
Free agency and salary arbitration are two of the big issues keeping the sides apart.
CBHFM officials say in a statement to MyStratfordNow.com that they hope the sides will come to an agreement prior to Spring Training 2022.
They add that Canada has never had so many great young players in the major leagues at the same time and they are looking forward to seeing them on the diamond as soon as possible.
In the meantime, they are encouraging the public to learn more about Canadian baseball, then and now, by visiting their website and making plans to join them next spring at the 2022 Induction ceremony on June 18th.
