City of Stratford ready for this week’s winter storm

The City of Stratford says it’s prepared for the snow headed our way.

The snow is expected to start falling early Wednesday morning and it’s anticipated it will keep coming down until Friday.

City officials say they are watching weather updates on a regular basis with their fleet of winter maintenance equipment, including plows, sanders, loaders and tractors, ready to go.

Contract snow clearing equipment is also on standby if needed and the blades on sidewalk plows are being replaced with blowers, which are more suitable for moving larger amounts of snow.

Officials say the trade-off is that it takes more time to clear the sidewalks with the blowers and they remind you that snow clearing efforts focus on high priority streets first.
