Local high school student killed in weekend collision

A local 16-year-old high school student is being remembered after she passed away in a car crash over the weekend.

In a letter to families, Stratford District Secondary School officials say that Lillie Riehl, a grade eleven student, was the victim of the collision that happened just east of Tavistock.

The school says it has brought additional support in to be in the school for staff and students and says a condolence book is available to be signed.

Police say first responders were called to Line 29 just before noon on Sunday after the collision with Riehl, the only person in the vehicle, transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement.

A Go Fund Me page has also been set up for Riehl’s family.
