It’s an opportunity to have your say on things like how city councilors can vote, how and when residents can address council at meetings, and how late meetings can go.
The City of Stratford is hosting a Procedural By-law Review Open House in the auditorium at Stratford City Hall on Wednesday night starting at 6 p.m. as part of a comprehensive review of its governance structure.
The by-law, which every municipality in Ontario is required to have, lays out processes for council and committee meetings with the current rules in place since 2007.
Stratford City Clerk Tatiana Dafoe says the information gathered will be presented to council at a future meeting.
“There’s going to be a lot of information they can read and then there’s going to be different boards that they can interact with and then there’s opportunities for them to provide comments and feedback.”
Dafoe adds any questions and comments on the by-law can be directed to the clerk’s office and more information can be found on the city’s website.
