The union representing workers at three General Motors plants in southern Ontario says they have reached a tentative agreement just hours after going out on strike.
Unifor, the union representing the 43 hundred employees, says the agreement covers workers at plants in Woodstock, St. Catherines, and Oshawa.
The union says GM agreed to better support for retirees and transitioning temporary workers into permanent full-time jobs.
The deal will now be voted on by union members but workers are expected to be back on the job Tuesday afternoon.

Unifor, the union that represents the 4,300 GM employees, says the decision to strike at midnight Tuesday was not taken lightly.
Officials say after working through the weekend on a new contract the company would not meet the conditions of the pattern agreement that was inked with Ford last month.
Some of the sticking points include better support for retirees and transitioning temporary workers into permanent full-time jobs.
GM says it is disappointed but remains at the table to reach an agreement.
Workers are on the picket lines in Woodstock, St. Catherines, and Oshawa.
In Stratford, six large manufacturers supply parts for General Motors and the impact of an ongoing strike could be felt locally.
The parts suppliers also work with Ford, Stellantis, Honda, Toyota, and Tesla.
