All about education at ‘Empowering Mental Wellness’

Sports journalist Ken Reid and local comedian, author and host Stewart Reynolds feature at the Empowering Mental Wellness event on Thursday at the Stratford Rotary Complex.

The event is organized by local resident Jean-Guy Poirier, who started PTSD support groups. It is designed to raise awareness about PTSD and mental health.

Reynolds is tapped to emcee, with guest speakers that include Dr. Edward Beharry, a psychologist with experience in various clinical settings, who has worked with first responders and Scott Goyette, founder of the Go Love Now Movement.

Poirier said Goyette will have some excellent information for guests.

“Sharing some rawness about what it is like to go through some of the difficulties when you are struggling and how to turn them around,” Poirier said.

Guests can also purchase the latest book from Reid, who has written about mental health challenges, and there is a selection of items available at a silent auction.

“Every guest speaker will have a little bit more information, something different to share. I think everyone can walk away with something.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are still available on Eventbrite.
