Stratford Relay for Life Friday night

Celebrating cancer survivors and remembering those we’ve lost.

Those are two of the main ideas behind Relay for Life which is taking place Friday night at the Stratford Central School Track.

Relay for Life takes place in communities across Canada and is a festival-like fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path.

The event goes from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Community Fundraising Specialist with the Huron-Perth branch of the Canadian Cancer Society Laura Pethick says the event will have lots of special moments.

“We’re celebrating survivors with the very first lap at relay, it’s the survivor’s victory lap, they all wear yellow shirts and get to walk that first lap, it’s a huge sea of inspiration.”

Three hundred participants, including 40 teams, have signed up to take part in the event.
