Richardson, Karolyn

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Karolyn, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She died peacefully at Rotary Hospice Stratford on Friday, December 15th, 2023. Karolyn joins her beloved mother Erma Seip who passed in 2010. Karolyn will be greatly missed by her husband Ross; her daughters Kara (Wen), Roberta Richardson-Simpson and Jane Agar (Rob); her grandchildren Ben, Daniel Agar (Emily), Ryan Agar (Taylor) and Sheldon Simpson and several great-grandchildren; and by her siblings Joanne Young (Wayne), Bill Seip (Jill) and Weldon Seip. Karolyn will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Karolyn was born in Stratford, Ontario and grew up in Gadshill and Stratford. Her teaching career brought her to Downie Township where she met Ross and raised their family. She was a lifelong learner who earned a B.A. from the University of Waterloo in 1997. Compassionate and kind, she advocated unconditional love. Karolyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was admired for her singing. She loved dancing, art, music, quilting and gardening. She enjoyed travel and vacations in several places, especially Cuba. She was involved in many organizations in her lifetime including 4H, Junior Farmers, Downie Community Club, Canadian Mental Health Association and Stratford Horticultural Society. Most of all Karolyn loved her family and instilled strong values of goodwill and integrity that have served them well. Her warm laugh, as well as her empathy and sincerity, will be dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 where visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon with a reception to follow. A family interment will take place at Avondale Cemetery. Memorial donations in Karolyn’s memory may be made to Rotary Hospice, Stratford. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
