CLSA, union reach tentative deal

Community Living Stratford and Area have reached a tentative deal with the union representing staff members.

Details of the latest offer have not been released.

A vote will be held starting today and ending Thursday at 4:30 p.m. A strike deadline has been moved to Saturday, at 8 a.m.

Prior to this latest update, CLSA Executive Director Trevor McGregor released a statement on April 26, noting that it asked employees to vote on an offer, which was rejected by union membership.

CLSA noted at that time that the offer included a full-time staff stipend of $1,500 and $800 for part timers. The past offer included two per cent wages increases for all staff for April 1, 2024 and on April 1, 2025.

McGregor said CLSA does not want a strike and “will work in a manner that will both attempt to avoid that fate while negotiating a contract that does not put the quality of services at risk by signing a deal that will cut services and supports.”

CLSA is a non-profit that provides person-centered supports, services and advocacy for adults with developmental disabilities.

The organization has 190 unionized employees.

Reached on Wednesday, McGregor said he would reserve comment until after the latest vote.
