United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) is empowering youth to become proactive community leaders through their Youth in Action grants program (YIA).
Aimed at addressing local challenges, this initiative encourages young people aged 14-25 across Perth-Huron to devise innovative solutions to issues affecting their peers.
Megan Partridge, United Way’s Director of Governance and Community Impact, tells MyStratfordNow the importance of resilience and adaptability for youth leaders.
“That’s part of the learning curve, that’s part of developing their leadership is knowing that things may not go to plan, but if you can get through those barriers and continue, then it’s really beneficial,” said Partridge.
Youth in Action grants, offering up to $1,000 per project, support educational programs, wellness initiatives, community-building efforts, and sustainable development projects.
UWPH continues to build a future generation of socially conscious citizens in Perth-Huron by empowering young leaders and fostering community engagement.
Partridge also encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the grants.
“Apply! It’s worth a try and you know you can do great things, we trust that you can do that so,” she said.
The Youth in Action Grants program not only supports a wide range of community initiatives but also plays a crucial role in building the next generation of community leaders.
