SLAAA hosting open house, wellness and community fair

There is just no slowing down for the Stratford Lakeside Active Adults Association.

The organization for residents age 55-plus always offers plenty of opportunities for activities through its membership.

You can learn more about them on Saturday when the SLAAA hosts an open house, wellness and multicultural fair, at the Agriplex Community Hall in Stratford.

Trudy Jonkman from the association says the open house will feature 45 exhibitors and 25 wellness opportunities, providing guests and opportunity to learn from organizations such as the Alzheimer Society and Ontario Caregivers Association.

“This is to increase awareness about available programs for seniors and for caregivers and to share knowledge about healthy aging and active lifestyles, to improve our overall health and well-being and help maintain our independence.”

There will also be exhibits of activities available through the association.

Special guests include educator Christin Dennis, who will talk about Indigenous workshops.

Jonkman says the SLAAA counted 750 members last year, and they are always looking for like-minded people who want to enjoy their community.

She said it’s a chance to be involved, get active, meet others and stay healthy.

The open house runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
