Snow squall watch tonight for Stratford, parts of Perth County

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for Wednesday evening. A wind chill of minus 12 overnight is possible. Environment Canada also issued a blowing snow advisory and the potential for heavy snow exists for tonight and overnight.

Snow Squall Watch in effect for:

  • Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County

Snow squalls possible beginning tonight.

What: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 15 to 25 cm possible.

Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour. Very poor to nil visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

When: This evening through Thursday night.

Additional information: A snow squall may develop this evening and move across the region as a cold front moves through.

In the wake of the cold front several bands of snow squalls from Lake Huron will affect the region overnight through Thursday night. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Road closures are possible.
