OPP have charged a Stratford resident in regards to an online child luring investigation.
On Dec. 4, following a prolonged online investigation by members of the child sexual exploitation unit, with assistance from digital forensics and Perth OPP, a search warrant led to an arrest at a residence in Stratford.
Robert Duncan Wood, age 53, is charged with four offences, including luring a child to facilitate invitation to sexual touching, luring a child to facilitate sexual interference, luring a child to facilitate sexual assault and luring a child to facilitate child pornography.
Wood was released from custody after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 13.
Police also released information Tuesday about a St. Marys man being charged in an online child sexual exploitation investigation.
Det. Sgt. Chris Barkey from the OPP child sexual exploitation unit explained that “protecting children from sexual exploitation is paramount.”
“It’s critical that members of law enforcement and the communities they serve work together to educate our children about safe internet practices, while actively working to identify individuals who seek to cause harm,” said Barkey.
OPP will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who seek to use technology for the exploitation of children.
Parents are reminded to take a “proactive approach” to aid in protecting children from online sexual exploitation by sharing strategies regarding safe internet usage.
