TGIF: CJCS/Kiwanis Christmas Basket Fund RADIOTHON

The CJCS/Kiwanis Christmas Basket Fund RADIOTHON returns Friday, providing a one-day, big push for a local fundraiser that helps puts food on the table for those in need.

Dave Elliott, marketing executive at CJCS, said Friday’s 12-hour radiothon acts as an “all hands on deck” open house for the radio station, with lots of visitors stopping in to donate their time, and, perhaps, a few bucks for a great cause.

“Every little drop fills the bucket,” said Elliott. “It doesn’t have to be hundreds of dollars. A couple of dollars, five, ten, whatever people can donate…”

Funds purchase grocery gift cards to be distributed through Stratford House of Blessing and the local Salvation Army.

There is a financial goal for the 48th edition of the event, based on a big need in the community.

“The number of families we are looking to feed is roughly 900 in Stratford and area. And to do that we need about $50,000,” said Elliott.

Dave Evans from Kiwanis Club of Stratford said about 40 per cent of the goal has been reached, so there is big push as Christmas approaches.

The radiothon runs from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and offers a chance to chat on the radio with CJCS and 2day FM talent.

Donations will be taken over the phone during the radiothon.

Black Angus provides food and snacks for employees and guests.

You can donate through the GoFundMe page on MyStratfordNow and tax receipts will be provided for donations.

Or just drop by the radio station with cash or a cheque.
