Upper Thames River Conservation Authority sent out a reminder Tuesday for residents to be cautious around rivers, streams, ditches and ponds.
Heavy snow has melted across the watershed with warmer weather increasing flows in local waterways.
The conservation authority does not expect significant flooding, but water may spill over the banks in areas known to traditionally flood in the spring. Flows in upstream areas including Mitchell and Stratford peaked during the day Tuesday.
An average of 15 mm of rain fell across the Upper Thames River watershed since Sunday evening, on top of an estimated average of 20 mm water equivalent content in the snow.
Many streams and rivers will remain higher than normal for the rest of the week.
