Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is launching a new PA Day Nature School Camp program in partnership with the Stratford Perth Museum.
Matthew Marchioni, who works for the Conservation Authority as a community outdoor education technician for Wildwood Conservation Area explained the premise of the nature school concept.
“It’s really immersing yourself in being outdoors, learning and playing outdoors.”
The program is for 8 to 12 year-old students and will be held at the museum.
The kids will partake in a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities, from snowshoeing and fire making, to print making and learning about beekeeping and local Indigenous history.
“On a day when we know that it is supposed to be a break from in class learning, this is an alternative form of that, where we get to still be learning and growing but we are doing it in a really fun way,” said Marchioni.
The program will run Jan. 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with options available for extended care.
Attendees are required to bring their own snacks, lunch and water bottle as well as being dressed appropriately for both indoor and outdoor activities.
