North Perth woman charged with first degree murder, kidnapping

As a nearly six-year investigation continues, police have charged a North Perth woman with first degree murder and kidnapping.

Wellington OPP said this week they have charged Jessica Martin, age 35.

A 38-year-old London man was also charged with first degree murder.

Jason John Brown, then age 43, was reported missing March 12, 2019.

His body was found by Durham OPP north of Whitby the next day.

A post-mortem determined his death was a homicide.

A total of five people face murder charges.

In November, 2023, police arrested two people, from Edmonton and Brantford, respectively, and charged them with first degree murder and kidnapping.

A third person from Wellington North was arrested last June and charged with first degree murder.

A $50,000 reward from the province of Ontario remains in effect for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of people responsible for Brown’s death.

Martin also faces three counts of obstruction of justice and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
