Getting outdoors and embracing the chilly season is what Stratford Winterfest is all about.
The family-themed day includes free events and entertainment at Upper Queen’s Park.
MJ Thomson, with Stratford Winterfest committee, said the weather looks promising.
“”I think we’re talking good family temps, it’s gonna be great for all the kids out there, and they’re gonna have a lot of fun being outside at Winterfest this year.”
The volunteer-driven, non-profit event welcomes residents to brave the cold for a day of family fun.
Scheduled are blacksmith demonstrations, Zoltan the Adequate Show, ice sculptors and the Great Canadian Lumberjacks.
Activities for kids include tobogganing, face painting, maple taffy taste testing and a mini putt course.
“Whatever level of child play you want to have, we have it,” said Thomson.
Food vendors are also scheduled to be on site.
A Winterfest breakfast with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8 Stratford starts at 8 a.m.
Off-site events include a Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Dinner on Friday and a free skate at the Dufferin Arena on Sunday.
The main event starts at 10 a.m.
