United Way Perth-Huron hits 70 per cent of fundraising goal

Some impressive workplace campaigns and thoughtful individual donations have helped push United Way Perth-Huron closer to its campaign fundraising goal.

Liz Cooper, management of community development at the local United Way, said the organization hit the 70 per cent of its $2.62 million goal this week.

“Every gift. Small, big, it all goes towards our goal and helps us be there for more local people in our time of need.”

Cooper said workplace campaigns always help, and noted the contributions of employees at FIO Automotive Canada in Stratford, who are “breaking all kinds of records.”

One person also recently donated their birthday money to United Way.

Campaign funds help with programs and services in the counties.

Cooper said preparations are also moving along for Coldest Night of the Year, a walk on Feb. 22, to support United Way Stratford Connection Centre and Shelterlink Youth Services.

Currently, the Stratford CNOY has the second most number of walkers in Canada and the most teams, 69, in the country.

The fundraising goal is $200,000, with about 40 per cent of that raised so far.
