‘It Takes A Village’: Learn more about raising resilient children

Four local organizations are partnering to discuss mental health in children and youth.

Avondale United Church in association with Kiwanis Club Stratford, CMHA Huron Perth, and Huron Perth Centre for Children and Youth are hosting a free event, Raising Resilient Children and Youth: It Takes a Village.

Terri Sparling from Avondale United Church explains that the event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the topic.

“This is a free event that has relevance to all people who work with kids or have kids, or are grandparents.”

The event on Feb. 26 will dive into Dr. Michael Ungar’s best selling book, I Still Love You: Nine things troubled kids need from their parents.

Catherine Hardman, CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth, added that these guiding principles can have long lasting impacts.

“If we can raise resilient children, then we won’t see them in our services as adults.”

The event runs at Avondale United Church from 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Pre-registration is required by Feb. 19.

You can do so by emailing eventsavondale@wightman.ca.
