CNOY event in St. Marys raised more than $45K

A big group of 145 walkers and 30 volunteers took part over the weekend in the Coldest Night of the Year event in St. Marys.

Chris Schroer, United Way Perth-Huron Manager, Community Development, St. Marys and Area, said $45,155 has been raised so far, with donations accepted until the end of March.

“So there’s still time to give at cnoy.org if you want to help,” he said in a media release.

Top five fundraising teams included Better Together, Icicle Picklers, T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More, St. Marys Healthcare Foundation and St. Marys DCVI Staff, Students and Families.

Top five individual fundraisers were Marco D’Angelo, Pamela Zabel, Julie Docker Johnson, Elena Dumitru and Gwen Bradley.

Funds raised will go towards St. Marys Community Outreach Worker and the Nourish Equal Access Food Market.

The Community Outreach Worker offers facilitation, education, and referrals for residents needing support including life skills, mental health, homelessness, and addictions, along with providing short-term support and help connecting community members to important services, and delivering community education and outreach, including neighbourhood mediation.

Nourish is open to anyone and offers fresh, nutritious, locally sourced produce and meats on the first and third Thursday of every month at the United Church.
