Conservative Matthew Rae has come out on top in the Perth-Wellington riding after polls have closed in the 2025 provincial election.
The Conservatives have won majority, currently sitting with 66 elected seats and will continue being the governing party of Ontario with Doug Ford continuing as Premier.
This is the Conservative Party’s third term as majority.
Locally, Matthew Rae became the MPP for the first time in 2022 and was positioned to win this election as the Conservative party has held the MPP seat in the Perth-Wellington riding since 2011.
Rae earned 47.4 per cent of the ballot, with Liberal Ashley Fox coming in with 27.8 per cent of the vote.
NDP’s Jason Davis earned 12.8 per cent of the vote and Green’s Ian Morton with 7.4 per cent.
53 out of 59 polls have reported, so final polling numbers may change.

The Perth-Wellington riding has declared it’s MPP.
Matthew Rae has won the seat and will continue to serve the people of Perth-Wellington for the Conservative party.
He currently sits at 17,069 votes, with a 48.8 per cent share of the vote.
40 out of 59 polls have reported, so final polling numbers will change.

02-27-25, 9:35 p.m.: We continue with our live coverage of the Ontario election.
In the latest update for the Perth-Wellington riding, Matthew Rae is still in the lead, dropping slightly to 49 per cent of the votes being reported.
He still has a sizeable lead on the other candidates, with more than 16,000 votes.
Ashley Fox is following behind Rae with just over 8,000 votes at 25.2 per cent.
Jason Davis has almost 4,300 votes for NDP and Ian Morton has more than 2,500 votes for the Green Party.
To our south, in the Oxford riding, Conservative Ernie Hardeman has secured his seat and will be continuing as MPP with 55 per cent of the vote.
Provincially, Doug Ford has won his riding’s seat with over 59 per cent of the vote in the Etobicoke North riding.
20 seats have now gone to the Conservative Party and they are leading in 59 ridings.
Liberals and NDP are tied with 6 elected seats each.

Getting a first look a the polling numbers in the Perth-Wellington riding, it looks like Conservative Matthew Rae is in the lead with 11,282 votes or just over 50 per cent share of votes counted.
Following behind is Liberal Ashley Fox, with 5,863 votes or 24.2 per cent of the counted votes.

Taking a look at the riding’s statistics from the 2022 election, the Conservative’s won by 10,289 votes or a 24.7 per cent margin.
Matthew Rae became the MPP for the first time in 2022 after receiving almost 19,500 votes, or a 46.8 per cent share of eligible votes.
The conservative party has held the MPP seat in the riding since 2011.
There was a voter turnout in Perth-Wellington of just over 50 per cent in the previous election.

Tonight, we will be providing up-to-date results for the Perth-Wellington riding.
Voting closes in an hour, so be sure to go and cast your ballot before 9 p.m. tonight.
There are seven candidates running for MPP of Perth-Wellington.
These include Conservative’s Matthew Rae, NDP’s Jason Davis, Liberal’s Ashley Fox, Green’s Ian Morton, New Blue Party’s James Montgomery, Ontario Party’s Sarah Zenuh and Freedom Party’s Rob Smink.
A total of just over 4,701,950 votes were cast in the 2022 election in Ontario.
The election set a record for the lowest voter turnout in a provincial election, as only 44.06% of the people who were eligible voted.
Matthew Rae won the 2022 election, representing the riding for the Conservatives.
There was voter turnout in Perth-Wellington of just over 50 per cent in the previous election.
