Jezard, Jack

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Frederick Jezard, age 63, on January 11, 2014, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.  He spent his last days surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Stratford on April 25, 1950, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jean (Wright) Jezard. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Bill Jezard in 1983.

Jack will be deeply missed by his loving wife Della (Schell) of 37 years whom he married on May 1, 1976.  He will also be sadly missed by his sons Jason and wife Izzy, and Shawn and wife Elizabeth, all of Stratford.  He was a cherished grandfather to Jayden and Tayia.

Jack always enjoyed helping others and worked for the City of Stratford driving the Parallel Transit (Mobility) Bus for 25 years.  He was an avid cyclist, biking thousands of miles each year.  He also enjoyed travelling to the Maritimes, where he lived for four years, as well as to England to visit friends.

Jack is survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ferne Wickenheiser and Otto Weber; Robert Schell and Mary Forsyth; Ellen and Ted Illman; Harry and Shirley Schell; Anna and Hugh Hamilton; Cathy and John Schippers; David Schell and Marg Murray; and Marlene Jezard; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Jack was also predeceased by brother-in-law John Wickenheiser.

We would like to express a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses in the Thoracic Surgery Unit at London Victoria Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at the Stratford General Hospital for their tremendous support during this difficult time.

Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:30 pm with reception to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the London Health Sciences Foundation, or the Stratford General Hospital Foundation through the funeral home, 519-271-7411 or www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com .
