A week of discovery in Huron and Perth for Western University students

Students from Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry are starting one-week placements on Monday at healthcare settings across the province, including throughout the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance.

First-year students in the programs have participated in Discovery Week for the past 27 years, getting first-hand experience in non-urban settings, while learning teamwork and collaboration.

Dr. Shanil Narayan, Regional Academic Director, Huron Perth, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, said Discovery Week is a strong tradition for the healthcare alliance, an opportunity to spotlight communities and physicians.

Organizers said medical students will experience unique health-care systems and get a fulsome experience of what a day in the life of a local health-care provider looks like in Stratford, St. Marys, Seaforth and Clinton.
