Local Community Food Centre gets boost through Trillium funding

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced funding of $60,900 for the Local  Community Food Centre.

The funding, through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, supports the Tax Smart, Thrive More program at the centre, which helps teach smart money management and offers free tax returns.

Rae said it’s the first step to empowering individuals to find success and confidence with personal finances.

This funding will allow the centre to establish a volunteer tax clinic and financial literacy program that will help many throughout the community.

Tax Smart, Thrive More is designed for individuals and families with modest incomes and provides friendly, non-judgmental tax filing support and accessible workshops on topics such as budgeting, fraud awareness, and government benefits.

The program offers tailored financial literacy workshops that provide practical education and learning opportunities. Through understanding finances and accessing benefits they’re entitled to, the program empowers the community to make informed financial decisions and improve long-term well-being.
