The money will help lower wait times and improve operations at Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, Listowel Memorial Hospital and the North Wellington Health Care Corporation.
Michael Hurley, president of CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, said emergency department wait times in the province have increased significantly.
The Ontario government is investing nearly $29 million to both counties, with the goal of expanding and rehabilitating water systems in multiple rural communities.
In his announcement on Friday, Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae said the funds will help reduce wait times and ensure patients continue receiving high-quality care close to home.
