Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae appointed to cabinet

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has been appointed to the provincial cabinet.

Rae was appointed as associate minister of energy-intensive industries by Premier Doug Ford Thursday.

The MPP told MyStratfordNow in his new role he is an “associate” to Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Mines. He will attend cabinet meetings and work closely with Lecce on meeting the province’s energy needs in the future.

“Really appreciate the premier’s vote of confidence. Looking forward to working with Minister Lecce and all of my colleagues to build the most competitive economy in the G7.”

The MPP adds that the province has an important role to play in strengthening energy independence and supporting good-paying jobs.

Rae has served as the government caucus chair, chief government whip, and parliamentary assistant to the minister of municipal affairs and housing.

The MPP said while it is an honour and privilege to serve in the additional role, his priority remains serving residents of Perth-Wellington.
